MISSION:
To honor Veterans and to instill in each of us a sense of appreciation, respect and awe for the individuals who served honorably and who are serving in the United States Military in order to preserve the freedom that we cherish.
VISION:
Many of our Veterans put their lives in harms way, and in too many cases, died in the line of duty while protecting our individual freedoms and securing the sovereignty of our nation. The Veterans Memorial will honor and thank our Veterans for the sacrifices they made on our nations behalf.
This Memorial includes plaques and monuments, but it also symbolizes the respect the veteran has among all Americans.
The STAR is used as the base of the memorial due to its significance as a representative of every State in the United States
The compass rose represents the fact that veterans come from all points of the country and from all walks of life.
The river rock around the edge of the star ties the memorial to the illinois river town of chillicothe, where the memorial is built.
The Battle Field Cross represents those who have given their lives for their country.
The revolutionary war soldier and the modern era soldier are saluting each other out of the respect they have for each other as well as the generations of veterans that have been involved in the various conflicts between them.

above the memorial is the american flag which is the symbol of this great country. The flag for the state of illinois is also included. The POW/MIA flag is also flown to make sure we never forget those who have not made it home.
